Dear Valued Subscriber,

Have a happy, healthy week. Bonnie and Steve Minsky

The Skinny on Garcinia Cambogia.

Question from a client on Garcinia Cambogia:

"Steve, I have to ask...what's up with all the hype from Oprah, Dr Oz. and Women's Health Magazine regarding this "miracle" supplement for weight management. Of course, I would only trust Bonnie and you to know the real facts and put them out there. Maybe you did and I'm behind!! Curious so let me and your readers know! Davita"

Davita, we never use the word "miracle" for a supplement because there is no such thing. A supplement's purpose is to supplement your diet and lifestyle.

It is amusing that garcinia cambogia has been all the rage lately. Garcinia has been around for decades without much fanfare. Believe it or not, it actually has some good research as an adjunct weight management aid. We never recommended it because we felt it was not effective enough to justify the cost.

What we have found recently is that when taken with several other ingredients, such as gymnema sylvestre and chromium, the combination does have value for cravings, satiety, blood sugar balance, and mild body mass reduction.

There are several things you MUST take into account, however.

  1. Garcinia and other plant-based herbal aids are not for everyone. You must check with a licensed health professional to see if it is right for you, especially if you are on multiple medications.
  2. There are myriad garcinia imitators out there. You must be extremely careful that you are purchasing from a reputable source. Garcinia is not cheap, but is easily adulterated, which is why you often see it for such low prices.
  3. Don't expect a miracle. If garcinia was the panacea television personalities made it out to be, Big Pharma would have already synthesized into a patentable chemical.

You are welcome to email us about weight management formulations that we prefer.
